Charles Amirkhanian interviews Cuban composer Aurelio de la Vega about his life and music. The two are joined in the KPFA studio by soprano, Anne Marie Ketchum, who recently recorded one of Vega’s works. In addition to hearing two of his pieces, Vega also discusses the work of two other Cuban composers, Alejandro García Caturla & Amadeo Roldán. Vega has taken on the Herculean task of cataloging the manuscripts and scores of Carturla, which were left in a highly disorganized state after he was murdered at a relatively young age.
